Video Operations Manager

Pittsburgh, PA
Full Time
Mid Level

Flyspace Productions is a full service, woman owned event management and production company headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. We are responsible for producing more than a dozen annual festivals, many private and corporate events and parties, and hundreds of AV supported events.
Our team is expanding and we are seeking a Video Operations Manager to join our ranks and lead the video team. This person will report to the Director of Production and will be responsible for properly supporting shows and projects with appropriate equipment, planning and communicating on-site implementation, managing inventory in collaboration with the warehouse team, and ensuring that our technicians continue to be trained and kept updated on industry trends.

About the Role:

Flyspace Productions is seeking a hands-on Video Operations Manager to lead our live event video department. This is a field-facing, equipment-intensive, and crew-focused position — not a studio-based, editing, or content creation role.

If you’ve worked as a high-level V1, love LED walls, power systems, and signal flow, and you're ready to lead shows and teams — this is your next step.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead live event video systems: LED walls (mobile + modular), playback, projection, switching, and camera systems
  • Manage, train, and schedule a team of Video (V1) Technicians
  • Advance and prepare shows: attend site visits, produce gear lists, and coordinate logistics
  • Serve as on-site technical lead for complex or high-stakes shows
  • Maintain and manage gear inventory using Flex Rental Solutions
  • Coordinate gear maintenance, repairs, and upgrades
  • Create and distribute show paperwork using Vectorworks, Google Workspace, and Flex
  • Collaborate with project managers and warehouse staff to ensure seamless event execution
  • Uphold and enforce safety protocols and industry standards
  • Support process improvements and assist with new training initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years as a lead Video Tech (V1) in live event production
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing crews
  • Hands-on knowledge of:
    • LED video walls (especially mobile trailer systems)
    • Signal routing, power distribution, and rigging for video
    • Playback systems, switching, projection, and live camera operations
  • Ability to create gear manifests, diagrams, and advance documents
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Familiar with Google Workspace, Lasso, and Flex Rental, or willing to learn
  • Comfortable working nights, weekends, and long days on-site
  • Must be 18+ and legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Touring or large-scale live event experience
  • CDL (or willingness to obtain — we’ll sponsor Class A license training)
  • Experience deploying video wall trailers
  • Familiar with Resolume, Watchout, or other playback software
  • Experience with live streaming and video capture workflows

Not a Fit If You Are:

  • A video editor, content creator, or studio-based producer without live event experience
  • Lacking hands-on experience with LED walls, video signal flow, and field production gear
